OIT News Articles
I contribute to NC State Office of Information Technology (OIT)’s monthly newsletter by writing and editing submissions. The audience for OIT News is a mix of campus IT staff and non-technical users.

Computing @ NC State
Computing@ NC State is the Office of Information Technology’s single largest publication each year (~20,000), distributed to incoming students and their families. Its purpose is to be a quick reference guide and FAQ that gives new members of the Wolfpack enough information to get started without being overwhelmed. For this piece, I design the layout and write the copy, which is then reviewed and lightly edited by a committee. Click to view the .pdf in a new window.
Phishing & 2FA at NC State video
This video, also seen in the “instruction” section, was developed for NC State’s New Student Orientation to educate students about the dangers of phishing and the importance of two-factor authentication. For this video, I wrote the script, created the animated video, edited the audio, and did the voiceover. This video won an “Award of Excellence” in the Short Video category of SIGGUCS Communication Awards for 2019. Click the .pdf to read the script, or watch the video below.
Two-Factor Authentication and Mobile Device Security Postcards
These two relatively-unassuming postcards have been printed more than 20,000 times each and have been handed to thousands of NC State students, faculty, and staff. I was solely responsible for the design and copy and wanted them to be friendly and useful, but have the content stay evergreen through years of printing. Click to view the .pdf in a new window.
