Instruction and Video

I develop & deliver technology and policy training to students, faculty, and staff at NC State in both online and in-person formats. Below are a few examples of online (synchronous and asynchronous) training. Recordings of live classroom training available upon request.

Data Security Training

In 2018, NC State University mandated data security training for all university employees– almost 40,000 in total. For 2020, I created the module in-house. For this project, I consulted with Subject Matter Experts to identify key messages and review content, wrote the script, compiled/edited the video (using free resources and audio also recorded in-house), and created the interactive PlayPosit module to be embedded in our LMS. Interact with the module in preview mode (or click the thumbnail below).

New Student Orientation Video

In response to COVID-19, NC State University moved New Student Programs to an online format. I converted the Office of Information Technology’s traditional 15-minute in-person presentation into a video format. I created this video from start to finish– wrote the script, compiled/edited the audio and video from stock/free resources, recorded the narration, and ensured its accessibility.

Short Technology Training Videos: Google Hangouts Meet and Google Drive

Keeping users up-to-date with changes in Google products is challenging. I’ve made several just-in-time short videos to help bridge the gap between news articles and a full training session. These short videos can be sent in multiple mediums (newsletters, Twitter, Google+, email campaigns) and have been well-received by users. I created these videos using Camtasia, wrote the script, and did the voiceover.

Live Webinar: Collaboration Tools in G Suite

One hour live webinar for fostering collaboration across G Suite apps. I created all content for this presentation.

New Employee Software & Policy Training

This was a joint project to move new employee training from in-person to online. This was built in Sakai using the lesson book feature and incorporated videos, photos, and annotated screenshots. I was responsible for course design, administration, and the bulk of the content. The gallery below shows Sakai screenshots of a few of the modules.
